    Cell selection highlight colour

    Hi,

OK, potentially a non-issue to some of you but we (at work) have just switched to MS Excel 2007 and i am doing a multiple range selection of cells. Now whilst i can see that the cells i have selected are highlighted in pale blue I do have to look very hard to see which cells I have selected because the blue is so very pale against the white.

Is there anyway to change the cell selection highlight colour to a deeper shade of pale?

    Thanks

    Alex

I think you'd have to change the Windows appearance, or use the contrast menus on your monitor to improve this.

In the Windows Control Panel, there are also various options in the Ease of Access centre.

For instant contrast (depending on your O/S) - try turning High Contrast On: Press the keys ALT-LEFT SHIFT-PRT SCREEN. (This is VERY high contrast though!)

    Hope you get it sorted.

    Thanks,

yes you are right, that gives a very high contrast - I'm not blind

I'll bare with it for now and experiment with different screen settings.

LOL, yup I switched it back off quick smart!

I can't check the exact place as I'm on 2013 but in Excel Options (probably General) you should have different scheme options which modify Excel's screen display colours. Worth seeing if any of those schemes improve the contrast for you.

as far as i can work out the different themes appear (Ribbon >> Page Layout >> Themes) to just change the default colour palette available but doesn't improve the visibility of the range selection...

    Hi Cookstein2

There is usually a black border when you select cells! see the attached picture.

yes i know that but when you do a multi-range selection such as {A1:C6,G8:L18} the non-active range of cells (i.e. the cells not bounded by a fat black line) are only highlighted in a barely visible pale blue.......
