Search by typing in first letter into dropdown box

Hi. I have been working on a Software Audit list that has been created by someone else. He has created an Application Colum and under that is a drop down box. I want to be able to search by typing in the first letter, i.e. 'S' but currently I just have to scroll down.

Do I need to create and Active X Combo Box to do this or is there another way? Also, is it possible to search on the first two letters, i.e. 'se'?

    I hope someone can help.

    Thanks
