Question Merging two sheets, overwriting matching records

    Hi everyone,

I'm sure this is fairly simple, and has probably been answered here many times. However, I'm not quite sure how to search for this one. What I need to do is this: I have this sheet, which is just an example (the actual one has many more records).
    subset.xlsx

I received this sheet (again, example)...
    new.xlsx

I need to add the new sheet to the old sheet, so that they are merged into one sheet. Also, if the same "LOC" appears in both sheets, I need to overwrite all the records for that "LOC" in the old sheet with the records from the new sheet.

Sorry to ask a potentially stupid question!

Re: Merging two sheets, overwriting matching records

Looking at the uploaded files using filter I see the file "subset.xlsx" contains only "BRAG" and "CONG" in column A. The file "new.xlsx" contains "CONG" and "FERN" in column A.

Have I understood you right when you wish to delete all rows with "CONG" in file "subset.xlsx" and replace them with all rows containing "CONG" from file "new.xlsx" and also adding all rows containing "FERN" from "new.xlxs" to file "subset.xlsx"?

Only a forum moderator can delete a thread. PM one of them ask him/her to do it.

A better alternative in my oppion is to post your solution and then mark the thread "Solved"

    Alf

To mark your thread solved do the following:
    - Go to the first post
    - Click edit
    - Click Advance
    - Just below the word "Title:" you will see a dropdown with the word No prefix.
    - Change to Solve
    - Click Save
