how to type hyphen?

    how to type hyphen?

    I got problem with typing hyphen in the cell. Every time I type it shows something else like C9, D6 and so on.
    I'm looking forward for the help.

    Type a single quote (') first and then type the hyphen.

    New quick method:
    Select Thread Tools-> Mark thread as Solved. To undo, select Thread Tools-> Mark thread as Unsolved.

    Or you can use this way:

    How to mark a thread Solved
    Go to the first post
    Click edit
    Click Go Advanced
    Just below the word Title you will see a dropdown with the word No prefix.
    Change to Solved
    Click Save


    You may also want to consider thanking those people who helped you by clicking on the little star at the bottom left of their reply to your question.

    In fact, Martin is absolutely right (of course)

    If you just type a minus/hyphen and press Enter, you will get a hyphen. If you type minus/hyphen and click on another cell, Excel helpfully thinks you are trying to set up a formula and adds the cell reference.

    So, now you have three options ... Martin's obviously requires the least effort.
