Autopopulate Different Sheets from a master sheet

    Hello again,

Is it possible to autopopulate different sheets from the information put into a master sheet?

Information is input into the first sheet and depending on which department the information is for, I need the information to appear on one of two other sheets.

So, I input the relevant data, I mark down that it's for department 1 and on the sheet marked Dep1, the info appears. The same with department 2.

Also, is it possible for the background colour of a cell to be duplicated for the additional sheets without doing it manually?

    Cheers

Yes, you can either attach a sample file or specify the details here -

    To Attach a File:

    1. Click on Go Advanced
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.

    A few questions -

Do you want the data to be cleared from the master sheet once its copied to the other sheets?

Is the background cells manually put or through conditional formatting?

I would like to keep the data on the master sheet. It will remain as a reference for anyone who wants to see both departments at the same time.

Generally, the background colour is just changed manually. As you can see, there is a calender for people to enter their holiday, sick days, etc. If you can suggest a better way of doing this, I am open to any advice.

    Thanks

Incase you enter new data into the master sheet, you would be entering it in the next available row right?

In this case, is it ok if the subsidiary sheets are cleared and fresh data input? Otherwise there would be duplicates.

Yes, the next available row for each heading would be used.
As you can see, there are dropdown boxes in column F "Who" that autopopulate the department.

The subsidiary sheets can be cleared, I just used the master as a template and copied over.

I may not need to do this if you could have autofilter on two different rows at the same time.
This would be the best way though.

Where would the data be updated which then would need to be copied?

Every cell has the potential to be updated and all data would need to be copied.
