    Record date for data entry

    Hi
Is there any way of seeing when data was originally entered , i am currently under audit from the tax man and have sent an print off of a spreadsheet, a question has come back how do we know that you havnt just created that for the benefit of this audit? so i was hoping that some where within excel it records when data is entered.

    Hi, wombat71,

No: you would need to use VBA for inserting/updating a date/time stamp (and I think you would need a big overhead unless you only want to keep certain information). Even in the options the BuiltinDocumentProperties may not deliver a valid stamp as that may be altered (if you copy/move a workbook).

Yes: you could insert the print date into the header or footer of each print.

    Ciao,

    Hi, newdoverman,

not something that will always tell the truth - you may alter the date of say a *.xlsx workbook to be created in the last century.

That in a nutshell, is the problem with official documents if they are in electronic form.
