Cell format is not changed, it is some how passive

    Hello Everyone,

I have copied a page from my system, and pasted it to excel 2007, the problem is I am not able to auto sum the numbers.
When I want to change the format of that cell, it is not editable. Weather I change it into currency or date, it remains same.
Any one have idea about this?? Please help me.

    Thank you.

it sounds as though your data is stored as Text in excel. copy a blank cell, select your number cells and then paste special, and choose add + values from the options

if at first you don't succeed try doing it the way your wife told you to

    in a vacant cell

    =SUBSTITUTE(C2,CHAR(160),"")
now copy ->paste values -> those returned values to the original column C then change the format.
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

you can also use find and replace:

    select the data
    Ctrl+h
click in the find box, hold alt key and type 0160 on the number keypad
leave the replace box empty and press replace all button

when you release the alt key you should get a character but you have to type on the number keypad on the right of the keyboard

you could copy one of the 'spaces' from a cell and paste that into the find box
