    Converting text to number

I copied and pasted from the screen the attached file. The score column showed up as text. I have used every trick I know to convert it to numbers without success. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you wish to remove the % sign and just see 82.55, 92.92 etc...?

In G3 put this formula and pull it down.

    =VALUE(LEFT(F3,LEN(F3)-1))

    Re: Converting text to number

Maybe something as simple as this:

    1. Select column F
    2. Click Data in menu bar select Text to Columns
    3. Then select Delimited click next uncheck all the check boxes
    4. Click Others enter % in the box
    5. Select the none in Text Qualifer click next change the Destination to the Desired
    6. Click Finish

    Hope this helps!

    Re: Converting text to number

    Hi,

Be careful what you think is working. If your text says 85.55% and you use the Text To Column feature in the steps above you will get

    85.55 which isn't .8555

By throwing away the percent sign, your values are 100 times bigger than they really are.
That may not hurt your problem but still 85.55 <> .8555.

You are right Marvin. Thanks for pointing that out. I should have mentioned that. Sorry about it!
