Hello all. I have a charity golf outing with 72 golfers. I need to create 4 man teams based on their handicaps. Usually the golfers are broke down into 4 groups based on handicap. "A" golfers being the lowest handicappers, "B" next, "C" next, and "D" having the highest handicap. I need to try and keep the 4 man team handicaps as close to the same as possible. I've attached an example with 12 golfers to show what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

That works perfectly. Could you show me how to make a list of the players now according to team number?
Copy the results as values and sort by team.
Sorry shg, I don't understand what you're saying. I'm trying to learn this stuff, you make this look so easy.
Copy the table
Select an unused area of the worksheet and do Paste > Paste Special > Values
Sort by team number.

shg This is just what I was looking for. So how would you modify these formulas for an uneven number of players like say 15 or 13 etc. Thanks for your work
Just enter the number of teams in D3.
I did that. The problem is that the handicaps don't balance correctly. If I could attach my spreadsheet I would show you. The 3 some's should have 3/4 of the 4 some's handicap total because the 3 some's rotate a player to take an extra shot on each hole. Each player on a 3 some gets to hit 2 shots from each ball position. Thanks again for your help.

Hello SHG,
I try to follow/understand your example of "sort & create golf teams", but I can not get it to work.
When I try to entry your given formular into the cells 'C2' or 'B16' I always got an error like "Invalid Formular".
What am I doing wrong?
Can you please help me out?
