Copy & Paste Problems in Excel 2007 limit 1 cell No click, drag and copy functionality

The copy and paste functionality on my Excel 2007 no longer works. Though I am able to copy and paste a single cell, it no longer allows any click, drag and copy function. When using the <Shift> key to select more than one cell, it will not copy to the clipboard. I noticed that in trying to use the Data Sort function, only one column can be selected now. I can no longer select mutiple columns to be sorted simultaneously. I read the copy-paste posts about the Skype problem; however, I do not have any Skype add in or program on my computer. I did a repair from my original program discs and no avail. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Go to the Control Panel, Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, Change and run a repair of Office.

Can you copy to the clipboard in other programs?

Clipboard is actually part of Windows and the solution may be a repair of Windows. Start off by going to an "elevated command prompt" by typing cmd in the search field under the Start Button. You will find cmd.exe in the list of things found. Right click on cmd.exe and Run As Administrator. At the command prompt enter sfc /scannow. This will check the integrity of the Windows files and replace files that have become corrupted or missing.

It doesn't take long to uninstall and then re-install Office. You may be at the point where this is necessary. The repair isn't perfect and sometimes just doesn't "cut it".

Uninstall, run a clean up utility like Ccleaner from Piriform then reboot the computer and re-install.
