its not exactly what your after but its easy to replicate and manage

using a helper column and autofilter

you select 2 teams you are after in the drop down menu and then hit reapply (keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+L)

will give you the team you want to look at

    Using your posted workbook...
Just to make my proposed solution more transparent, I used helper columns.

These regular formulas begin the list of matching row numbers for the last 6 rows containing Arsenal and Aston Villa
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Copy those formulas down through Row_11

This formula begins the list of HOME, VISITOR, Home score, and Visitor score for Arsenal

Copy that formula across and down through N11

This formula begins the list of HOME, VISITOR, Home score, and Visitor score for Aston Villa
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Copy that formula across and down through R11

Is that something you can work with?

    Humdingaling,
sorry for not replying earlier but i prefer Ron's solution, because more dynamic .I created drop down list in "M2 and N2" when you change the teams names the result change with it,
and thats how i want it.Anyhow thanks for your time very much appreciated.

hi RON...great code working fine...but lets say...the code is bringing up the last 5 games but they may not have been played yet with no results...how can we fix this? because if deleting the results of column "C" and "D" the last 5 games remain the same and we only want the las 5 played...IF coluns "C" and "D" have no result yet dont show in last 5.

    many thanks.
