Excel Display Problem Window Within the Window

I am a novice user of excel, though the "More novice" people in my office see me as the guru.
We have recently been working on some documents and when I have sent them to the Quality Assurance department, The QA sees them in a different layout... (Like a window within a window)....
    excel anomoly.png

    Why is this happening??

When I send the form to some one else after I have created it, It opens normally. But when I send that same form to QA, this is how it opens.
If QA then saves it and sends it to me, it opens in this manner too.

Is this a setting on the QA's computer?

    Cheers

Re: Help!! Excel Display Problem Window Within the Window

    Hi,

I'm pretty sure it is. If they double-click on the title bar of the "window in a window" (RE excel anomaly.png), it should maximise and appear normal then.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for your reply!!

Unfortunately this was the 1st thing I tried, but no avail.
The "window" will not even move if I click and drag it.
I cant do anything with the layout other than right click which brings up the save, print, view code menu.

    This is sooo frustrating!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that Ben.

The only other thing I could suggest before I completely run out of ideas is to insert this line of VBA code into the Workbook_Open subroutine in the ThisWorkbook module:

In the screen shot the Page Layout icon is selected, top left.

Try selecting Normal and see if this resolves it.

Re: Help!! Excel Display Problem Window Within the Window

The lack of minimize/restore/maximize buttons would suggest that the workbook is protected with Windows set.
Check what's set on the Review tab.

Re: Help!! Excel Display Problem Window Within the Window

I did think the same thing Andy, but wouldn't it be an issue on ALL computers if that was the problem?? Because I have seen something similar if a workbook is protected with the window set to be a fixed size and not resizeable, but it worked across all systems, not just a single machine.

Yes it would. But we don't know what it looks like normally.

Re: Help!! Excel Display Problem Window Within the Window

    Thanks guys for your interest.
This is how I saved the document to originally look like....Excel Should be.jpg
As you can see I have un-checked formula bar and gridlines. This so when the form is distributed in a protected state, other staff members across the business can not mess with any formulas, or formatting, whilst the screen looks clean and clear of "Adjustability".
I am not sure what you mean by "Window set" but here is a screen shot of the review tab Excel review tab.PNG
    Thanks guys!!

Re: Help!! Excel Display Problem Window Within the Window

    Hi Ben,

When you protect the workbook, is the "Windows" option checked?

If it is, this will not allow anyone to adjust the size of a window whilst the workbook is protected.

    Let me know

    GENIUS!!!

    You sir are a legend.
Looks like they must have added the protection on. I had not protected the whole work book but rather each sheet.
Im guessing they protected the work book and checked the windows box.

    THANKS so much!!!

Hmmm, point taken. There would usually be a star there - Capture.PNG

I'm not sure what's going on...

EDIT: It appears to have been disabled on this thread. Oh well, at least you tried

Re: Excel Display Problem Window Within the Window

I had the same problem and the "Protect Sheet" under the Review Tab was the culprit.
I normally don't use this feature, but that particular worksheet had sensitive information.
I wasn't until I found this thread that I remembered protecting this worksheet.

The website is great. Whenever I get stuck, you always come through with the answers, unlike Excel "Help" !
