I Get Varying Results When I Use =cell("filename") In A File Saved On A Shared Drives

    Say I have a a file saved at b:\Reports\Report 1.xlsx

    Sometimes when I use =cell("filename") I get b:\Reports\Report 1.xlsx - which is what I'm looking for.

But sometimes it returns \\sharedfiles-fin.corporate.lan\finance\Reports\ Report 1.xlsx.

This messes up the print area of templates I have to use monthly, since sometimes I end up with a much longer file path.

What really gets me though, other than the fact that I don't understand it, is that it's inconsistent! I can't figure out why it shows up one way sometimes and the other way other times!!

Please help! Thanks as always, ladies and gentlemen.

The cell("filename") function returns full path of the file alongwith filename depending on location of the file. hence it changes when your file is saved on a differnet location.

This link might help extract just the sheetname/filename/location etc
