Finding id #'s in a column that are the same and then move all info to be together

    Hi All,

I am very new to excel but need it to help me sort some data for my classroom.
Here is what I am trying to do:
I have pasted information from two different spreadsheet into one. I have student id's and absences and then I pasted student id' s and gpa's.
I want to match up like student id's so that their gpa's and absences line up.

    Thanks.

Hi you really need to post an example.

Otherwise the question becomes:- How long is a piece of string?

The process you need to follow is as follows

    select an empty column

use the match function to compare the student ids in the two columns with student ids Assuming IDs are in columns A an F

Modify this using the offset function to give you the data you want. Assuming GPA is in column G

The function is offsetting G1 by The row number that the match occurred in so lets say 5 minus 1.
    Offset G1 by 5 -1 = row 1 + 5 - 1 = 5

The function is offsetting the the column by 0.
