    Auto adding of comments box

    Hi all,

    Using Excel 2013 and created spreadsheet for work.

    Would like to know how I can get a comments box to open automatically when I click on a cell.

    Welcome to the Forum!

    An existing comment box does open automatically if you hover over a cell. Do you mean that you want to create one automatically if you click on a cell? That can be done with VBA.

    Yeah would like one to open automatically.

    Do I need some kind of VBA script? How do I do this?

    Install this code in the VBA code module for a worksheet, and then every time you click on a cell in that worksheet a new comment will be created, if there is not already a comment for that cell.

    Thanks this works bit is not quite what I was looking for. I need the comments box to come up when a cell is highlighted to give the user the option to enter info but if no info is to added the comments box should disappear.

    Managed to do what I needed by adding / False to your vba.
