    "not responding" message

I have been developing an Excel 2010 workbook for years. However, recently the response to inputs has slowed down and sometimes "Not responding" appears at the top of the screen for several seconds. The whirling of the annular sign shows that something is happening. On occasions, the screen will fog over for a few seconds if I have not input something for a while. Is this problem because the workbook is now too large?

    Hello denisaf,

    Welcome to the Forum.

Is this problem because the workbook is now too large?
Yes, it could well be the case. Have you tried to set Calculation to manual at the begiining of your Code, and then at the end of your Code, set it back to Automatic. You could do the same with setting ScreenUpdating to False, and back to True, in the same manner.

Maybe that would speed it up a bit.

    Re: "not responding" message

I switched the calculation to manual and that seems to have solved the slow response problem. I have used hundreds of RAND in a number of sheets. These would have been calculated every time I made an entry when calculation was on automatic. Thank you, Winon, for waking me up! I will stay on manual and the press F9 after every entry.
