    Reduce Really big file?

    Hi guys,

I've got a problem with my workbook which is only 10 sheets and about 12 columns and 40 rows. The file is 2.8mb which obviously takes a long time to open.

I've checked the hidden columns and rows and there's no excess formatting. No macros.

My theory is pretty much all cells have data validation and conditional formatting. I need both of these functions but is there anyway I can cut down the file size without removing these?

    Thanks in advance!

You could try " How do I reduce my workbook size?" for example

    Re: Really big file?

    Hi there,

Your profile suggest you are currently using MS Excel Ver.2003. Try upgrading to 2007 or above, and then use "save as" option with the same file. MS Excel would automatically reduce your file size. This is one solution that will take care of this problem et al.

Secondly, if you can upload your file here then we can check further to remove and unnecessary formatting. (Hit the star button if you think this helps).

And you have broken the rules too. Or are you exempt from the rules?

I'll change my title to make it less confusing.
