Question Reading and updating information from CSV file

Hi, I am a bit new to Excel 2007, and I was trying out the feature to read and update information from a CSV file.
I load a csv file created from gmail with a group of contacts. This works fine, but when I try to update from source again (even with the EXACT same file), says that "Invalid Reference".

Does anybody have experience with this ?

    any decent workaround ?

of course I can always open as a CSV and just paste information myself, but then I can do that with xl 2003

    thank you!

Open Excel then on the DATA tab, click on From Text. Find the CSV file then click on Import. Choose Delimited and choose the COMMA. Click on FINISH. You will then be presented with IMPORT DATA where you choose either a new worksheet or a place on the existing worksheet. There is a button labelled properties where you have choices to make including saving the Querry and refresh options. Carefully read and make the choices that you want. Click OK.

Experiment a bit to see what suits you.

To refresh your data click on the DATA tab, Connections, select the querry and click on REFRESH.

    Thank younewdoverman

actually I did get that far, the problem is that no matter what options I set, when I try to refresh the "invalid reference" error occurs.
have you successfully updated from a csv file?

may it have something to do with forbidden characters in headers or in the contents?
the file does cointain asian characters -- but it does load them correctly! I wonder what the problem may be on refresh...

Re: Reading and updating information from CSV file

I have no problems at all. I tested the procedure before posting to be sure that it wasn't Google causing the trouble.

I doubt that invalid characters would cause problems on the refresh of data because they would have caused problems to start with if they were present in the first attempt.

Did you save your query and then choose it from the Connections in order to refresh your data?
