    Task calculator

    Hi excel community,

This may be a big ask, but I am looking for a calculator that calculates the

    Shift start time (e.g. 7:30)
    Task start time (e.g. 10:00)
    Task duration (e.g. 2.5 hours)
    Tea breaks, lunch breaks (e.g. 9:am, 12pm)
End of shift time. (e.g. 4pm)
Non working days (e.g. Public holiday, Weekends)

This requirement is to track the end time of a task only based on the start time (which could be anytime during the shift), and takes all breaktimes and close of business times into account.

I tried coming up with a formula for this, but got lost in the complexity cos I'm not that bright really and I didn't do well at math.

I'm looking to see if anybody has something fairly simple to understand, or if somebody has an idea about the type of function that would be required to do this.

    Much appreciated

    Cheers

    Re: Task calculator

After 75 veiws and not a single response my guess is that the question may not have made sense.

I've drafted a task calculator. This has been updated and s attached. This demonstrates how it's meant to work. See Task tracker.xls

The calculator takes into account the start of the day, the task start time, various breaks throughout the day, the end time, overtime, and the start of the following day.

so far it works until you get to the next days break time. after that you start to realise that you need to begin duplicating cells but with additional days. I've now done this to demonstrate this fact.

It seems all I need is a formula to stop this duplication. The obvious principle is that I can simple add a function into a cell becuase I need to track mulitple tasks.

Can anybody please review the attached xls Task tracker.xls and advise.

    cheers
