    Author reference accompanying read-only access

I have an Excel (2010) file that is password protected. That is, requires a password to open.
Users don't have this password, so are obliged (by design) to open via the 'Read Only' button when the Password dialogue box pops up.
At the top of the dialogue box is an auto-message that says:

Program name.xls is reserved by [my name]
Enter password for write access, etc....

I would like to change this reference, but can't see where Excel is getting the 'my name' information from...
I have manually changed any full-name entries (to just my initials) under File|Info|Related people, and also File|Options|General|User name.
I have re-saved the file in question, closed and re-opened Excel, but no joy.

    Thanks for your help.

    Phil

It's the name of the person who saved it password protected.

Thanks, but where is that name saved? File author is now given as "PSK" (in Save As dialogue) but that is not what is being shown on the password box.
Sorry if I am missing something obvious.

I don't think it is the author, but the person who saved it as a password protected file. I just created a simple test file, and when I cracked open the XML, it looked to me as though that is saved in Workbook.xml in the xl folder of the openXML document.

Thanks again. That gives me a good clue.

Re: Author reference accompanying read-only access

I discovered that Excel does indeed pick up this information from File|Options|User name, but only if you (re-) save the file using the File|Save As method (i.e. click Yes, to "file already exists, over-write?"). If you just open and re-save using File | Save (or just click the floppy disk icon), the information (i.e. who had previously saved it) does not get updated. Still not sure exactly where this field value is located (in workbook.xml?) but at least I now know the workaround.

The password dialogue box (required to open the file) now says "Reserved by PSG" as required.
