Question How to import formatted Excel data into a readable Word document?

Part of my work involves the transfer of thousands of lines of Excel data into FileMaker and then exporting this data to Word where it is finally formatted for publication. What I'd ideally like is to skip the FileMaker step and simply have it so that I import all the data from my Excel file into a Word document in one swoop. The problem is that the eventual export can't feature tables, it would be the icing on the cake for the data to remain as formatted, and the data needs to read line<space>line<space>, vertically.

Essentially, I need to know how to take this from Excel ..

And turn it into this in Word ...

Thanks for your time, guys and gals, and I hope I've posted this in the correct forum.

My suggestion is to prepare the exact output format within excel in another worksheet and export that.

    1. Copy the Excel data and Paste into Word.

    2. In Word select the Excel data and on the Layout tab, Convert to Text.

    3. Separate text with TABS.

    4. On the Home tab, click on Find and Select, Replace and enter ^t in the Find field and in the Replace with field, ^t for single paragraph spacing or ^t^t for double paragraph spacing or ^l for single line spacing and ^l^l for double line spacing.............your choice.

    This is quick and easy.

Re: How to import formatted Excel data into a readable Word document?

Hi, rcm. Thank you for your response. How exactly do I go about importing/exporting the data. I'm fine with regards to the general rules of exporting and important and copying and pasting, but I just need the final export/paste to be tableless, formatted, and in a vertical layout.

Edit: I'm going to check out yours now, newdoverman.

Thanks, newdoverman. That's exactly what I needed. Works a charm.

Re: How to import formatted Excel data into a readable Word document?

I'm glad that it worked for you. I've had to do this many times in the past. If you do it often, you might want to set up a macro to run to do the work after pasting into Word.

    Thanks for the feedback.
