Stop all calculation

Hi,

I need to stop calculations temporarily if possible. Ideally I will be able to do this in VBA. Bascially, I have a Macro running that involves pasting but still needs to read from the original values in other areas of the workbook after I have pasted. Even when I have changed the calculation to manual the formulae in all cells updates when the macro pastes. Ideally I need this not to happen and for cells to only calculate when instructed to do so in the macro. Is this possible?
