Comparing between tables

Hi,

How do i get my excel to compare between tables and come up with a result. For example i have 2 tables,

How do i make them compare and then come up with a result like

Easier if you had a workbook attached. I think something like this would work, assuming in Table1 James is in A2 and Class A is in B1:
=if(countifs(First_col_of_Table2,$A2,Second_col_of_table2,B$1)>0,"X","")
