Re: access 97 database table correction

    Steve,
Welcome to the forum. Could you be more specific and perhaps give us some examples. Is Column D currently populated. Do you wish to replace data in Column D. What will happen to the data in Column B. Are you moving only specific data or the entire column? What you are looking to do can probably be done, but we need more information. Your request is to generic to provide a solution.

hi Alan thank you for your quick response, I haven't debugged my code as it's just a table, I need to sort and then import back into access when information is in its correct columns.
    many thanks steve

Re: access 97 database table correction

Alan, sorry I totally missed the first part of your question as it wasn't showing, the table is for customers with addresses that has been split into
(add1 equals first line of address) and (add2 is the second part of address) and (add3 last part of address) then (TOWN) and then (COUNTY) what I have a problem with is the TOWN and COUNTY columns has either been added to add2 and add3 which is not where the information should be, so need a way of cutting and pasting into right column but have so many records is there a way of automating this with the criteria I set e.g. if at Add3 column consists a town name to cut and paste into the right column (town)
hope i have explained what i am trying to achieve
    Best wishes Steve

Re: access 97 database table correction

I've got to run out for a couple of hours. Can you post some sample data to look at to determine the best way to do this. Alternatively, when I look at the data, I will also consider if this can be done with update queries in Access since the data is coming from there and needs to go back to there. Here is how to upload some data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.
