advice on maximum practical sizes for workbooks

    Hi team,
I am looking at a problem that may have very many worksheets in a workbook.

Is there a rule of thumb that says "if you have say 200 worksheets you are "to big" even if the sheet is only accessed occasionally.

    any suggestions welcome thanks

    Jmac

Is not the amount of Sheets but rather the amount of data and connection(formulas) that decide of the weight and performance of the workbook.
If you have 200 sheets in logical order with few formulas and data that will work.
The biggest amount I worked with was around 80 and we have seen performance decreases so decided to rebuild the whole workbook.
If you have let say 200 employees and you need data for all of them keeping in one workbook make sense from point of summarizing data but the navigation can suffer.

So any rules are here more likely decided by you.
