    colouring cells automatically based on info in a different cell

    Hi everyone
    i am looking for a way to fill a cells with a colour based on a figure in a diferent cell
    for example if A1 = 1 F6 will turn red, if A1= 2 F6 and G6 will turn red and so on

    like this ?

    go to conditional formatting--> determine a formula

    formula in conditional formatting is
    =Columns($f$6:F6)<=$A$1
    select color click ok

    in apply to part select or type F1:XFD1

    apply ok

    Thanks that is just what i am looking for but still a little confused do i have to highlight a cell before going to conditional formatting and if so which cell

    after applying the formula go to conditional formatting tab again and select manage rule there you will see applies to you can change the reference here OR
    first you can highlight the cells then you can apply conditional formatting.

    cells as per your query is F6 to XFD6 which is last column
    select F6 then hold control and SHif together and then right arrow key to select From F6 to XFD6
