    Unhappy When selecting a cell excel automatically selects more cells

    Hello,

    I have a problem with excel 2007.
    I have a worksheet that consists of an overview sheet with formulas and links referring to cells and data ranges on other sheets in the same worksheet.
    It's been working fine for several years but now I can't select the links on the first sheet anymore. When I click a link, excel automatically selects a number of cells. I can't follow the links anymore.
    Also when clicking other cells in the overview sheet, excel automatically selects more cells. No matter where I click in the first sheet, the same happens and always the same number of cells is selected.

    I have 3 worksheets that are built in the same way and all are showing the same problem. Only the number of cells that are automatically selected differs. In one worksheet 10 cells down are selected by a mouseclick and in another worksheet it's 22 cells down.

    Strange thing is that I copied the worksheets on an usb-stick, tried them in another computer and everything worked fine.

    I removed MS Office from my computer and installed it again, but the problem is still there...

    I'm pretty desperate because the worksheets are large with approx 80 sheets, so building new ones would mean an immense amount of work

    Any help will be very much appreciated!

    not very sure but you can try on a copy of yr file in immediate window

    How exactly do I do this?
    I saved my file under another name so I can test it, but where exactly do I copy this text?

    open the vb editor( Alt11)->view->immediate window

    So I selected immediate window and pasted the text there. But nothing changed. Do I just paste the text or do I have to activate it in some way?
    Sorry for asking so many questions...

    I did find out that I can get my links working by right clicking the cel and then click "open link" so if I can't solve the problem, I can still try this.

    just copy/paste that pice of code in immediate window and ...enter. then check to slect or whatever in yr file, do something...
    If it doesn't solve yr issue that it means you need another solution such as change the zoom level a few points up or down...

    That's what I did, but nothing changed. When I clicked in the file afterwards the problem was still there. I suppose it must be something else then.

    However the problem only occurs in the overview sheet with all the links and formulas. The 75 sheets that follow and where I enter the data don't have the problem.
    I'm using the file for 2 yrs now. It's not a complicated file and at start everything worked like a charm. It was only after a year or so that I sometimes had the problem. Usually clicking in another sheet and then go back to the overview solved the problem, but now it won't go away anymore.

    Not sure if this is the same issue you have but when I click on a cell in one of my workbooks, say M2, it highlights M2, N2 and O2.
    I found that if I change my view in this spreadsheet from page layout to normal it doesn't do it.
    Make contributors happy, click on the "* Add Reputation" as a way to say thank you.

    Have you tried to push functionkey F8 once?

    WOW!! Problem solved. With normal view there are no issues
