Sharing a workbook with a team and allow them to refresh

    Hi guys,

I have a workbook with a few columns that I need my team to update constantly. I need help on creating a workbook that can be opened and edited by everyone in the office at the same time.

It is kind of like Google Doc. where we can see the changes made in real-time, or more accurately, by creating a refresh button that one can click and see the changes made without closing the document or making the other people close the document.

    Is that possible?

You could go to the review tab click share workbook then select the box that says "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time. This also allwos workbook merging." Then go to the Advanced tab ANd change update changes the smalles amount of time it will go down to is 5 minutes. Then save the file were everyone can get access to it.

Once you go to the review tab then select Share workbook a popup will apear click the small box at the top of this pop up and there is a second tab on this pop up called Advanced that is where you will select how often excel will auto update and whether to save and upate or just update. I hope all this helps with your project.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you but here is my fix:
when some one enter in there data they hit CRTL+S
then with this Macro in place before the sheet is set to shared they should hit CRTL+q and it will refress the data
Please Login or Register to view this content.

to put this macro if you dont know how press ALT+F11 then at the top add a module and paste this macro into the module close out of that view and save the workbook as a xlsm then share thework book.

Sub Test() This is the name of the Subruitine
    '
' Macro1 Macro This is the internal name for the macro
    '
' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+q This tells it what jeyboard shortcut to use
    '
Application.CommandBars.FindControl(ID:=455).Execute this one tells it to review and update workbook
End Sub This ends thr subroutine

Does this code check if there is a change that's been made and if there is, then it will automatically save it?

Is it possible to create a save/refresh in macro and I can just put it on a button?

The workbook must be shared for it to work if it is not shared you will get that error.

Re: Sharing a workbook with a team and allow them to refresh

So here i have add a cool feture for this i tested it out it works. Workbook must be shared.
first Create a module with this code or add the bottom lines if ypu already have the code in a module.
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Now douple click on the workbook in the VBA developer window under tab Microsoft Excel objects and put this code
Please Login or Register to view this content.
So what this will do once you have the workbook shared is when you open it up it will start updating itself every 10 secods i tried every couple of seconds and it locked up my excel.
