    How to properly format IF/THEN

I am trying to do a basic formula: If cell equals, then make another cell equal to another value. For example, I am using in cell B1: =IF(A1="JSMITH/NET Pay","Yes","No"). However, it is not working even though the value in A1 is as written. B1 returns value of "no" instead of "yes". If I put simple text in A1 (without a slash (/) mark) the formula works. It seems the slash (/) mark is being read as a division symbol?

    Thanks!

No. This is not your problem. Check for trailing spaces in A1.

Thank you so much for helping me with my first post--trailing spaces were there!
