Excel .dat file converting to Employee Timesheet data

    Hi there,

I have this .dat file containing employee time transactions for Time & Attendance. Column F contains "0" & "1" indicating a IN transaction (0) and OUT Transaction (1). I need a way of sorting the data into a readable format and also calculating the time between the IN time and the OUT time. I also need to use a vlookup to add the employee name from a separate table or sheet on the same workbook. The employee number is in column "B"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The file you posted is not parsed. You either need to post a parsed file or explain where each field cuts off e.g. looks like

Characters 1 to 11 are employee ID
Characters 12 to 19 are date
Characters 20 to 27 are time
    etc etc
Please consider adding a * if I helped.

You also have tabs Char(9) in your data which isn't helping matters so it isn't a CSV file at all

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Here's a proper CSV file if anyone wants to tackle this.

There is no out data? An employee could enter and leave on multiple times in a day. Do you want to calc total in time or can we simplify and just go from first in time to last out time each day? Think you need to post better data set.
