I need to highlight a cell if the following conditions are not met

    Hi there,

I need to highlight a cell if the following conditions are not met.
If cell c1 contains a value then cell a1 & b1 should also contain a value. If either cell a1 or b1 do not have a value, then that cell (a1 or b1 or both) must be highlighted

    Thanks
    Guy

    Hi Guy,

Please use this function =OR(B1="",A1="") in Conditional formatting.
    Thanks

    Hi Guy,

    Welcome to the forum!

I believe your query contains two questions i.e.

    Case1)
If either cell a1 or b1 do not have a value then the blank cell will be highlighted

    Case2)
If either cell a1 or b1 do not have a value then both a1 & b1 will get highlighted

    Please check the attached file.

    Regards,

I hope you can see the image. Here is my problem.
F5 has a number - no action need
I5 no number -needs to be highlighted (if there is a number in L5 or O5)
    O8 has a number -I8 & L8 need to be highlighted - don't have a number and need to create a claim

    Thank you in advance
    Guy

Re: I need to highlight a cell if the following conditions are not met

Also, please be clear what if I5 has number and F5 does not have any number? which cell will be highlighted???

If I8 or L8 will have number, then which cell will be highlighted. Whether any cell will be highlighted or not?

Please attach a excel file for better understanding and also include the expected result.
