Conditionally format entire row based on cell selection

I wish to format the entire row (except cols A:Q) when selecting any cell in that row.

    At present I have

This works okay, but I have to scroll so that the highlighted cell is off screen, then scroll back. I'm sure I had a workbook where this worked by just selecting a cell in any row, without having to scroll.

    Advice appreciated.
