Trying to Setup a Spreadsheet With an Applied Advanced Filter/Custom View

I know nothing about Macros/VBA code at this time but I was wondering if there was a way using Advanced Filter & Custom View to setup a near blank spreadsheet except for some column labels with a custom view filter for 5000 rows which may or not have data.

Then we load this spreadsheet into our reporting system & when we need a report we hit a button & our system dumps the data into this spreadsheet & it will filter by how we saved the filter on the original spreadsheet.

I can do this manually with Advanced Filter but the users who would want to see this report know even less than myself about Excel.

Basic setup is 3 columns with data & a date column.

The data is to be filtered so any row with a value greater than 20 is displayed & the rest is filtered out.

How does the external system store data?

If it's an access MDB file or some other cooperative format, then you can Set up an External Data Connection.

Then when you need to run a report, you don't need to go into the data system and dump into excel; you go into excel, click the "Refresh" button, and then excel will go and pull the data from the system.

I don't think you'd need to refresh or update the filtering, it should just automatically retest the data according to the already-there filtering. At least, that's what I saw when I was playing around with testing it.

Thanks Ben, I am passing that along to the person who is doing that end of things & see what he comes up with.

I was trying to mess around with even setting up a Custom View but seems that the only filter I can get saved on a Custom View is an Auto-Filter
& not an Advanced Filter, unless I am missing something somewhere. That could even get me around what we are trying to accomplish for this.
