How to return to normal view from custom view

Hi everyone! I have a spreadsheet of all my daily expenses. Each row is an item expense, and each column is a day of the month.

I set up a custom view which hides all the columns except the first one listing the item and last one which sums the row's total. I did this so I can quickly switch to a view which allows me to see how much I've spent on something for the month without having to scroll across many columns.

I can't seem to figure out how to quickly switch back to the original view. Does anyone know how?

How did you get it in a custom view? Might be able to help if I knew what happened...

Sounds like you may have "Group" turned on? go to Data tab/Outline/Ungroup
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

Re: How to return to normal view from custom view

To let you guys know what I did (so you can better understand how the worksheet changed), I selected every column except the first and last and hid them. Then I went on the ribbon to View > Custom View and saved that as a custom view.

Now when I switch to it I have to highlight the whole worksheet, rt. click a column, and select unhide to revert the view back. This isn't a big deal, but I can see how it would be if I made a series of changes and saved it as a custom view, and then had to manually undo each change to get back to the original view.

It seems odd to me that there isn't a button or hotkey which switches things back to the way they were.

OK, if you dont want to delete that custom view, unhide all the columns (get it back to "normal") create another 1 CV, and then just switch between them. Not ideal, but an option)

Just select the column headers and do right click and click unhide.

Add it in custom view as Normal View. So that you are not needed to do it again and again.

Edit: FDibbins already suggested it lol

Thanks for the suggestion guys. Now I feel like a dolt that I didn't even think of that. Ha!

Anyways, I'm just rather surprised there isn't a simple revert back option, such as hitting Esc or something. I'll mark this thread as solved.

Re: How to return to normal view from custom view

just another option...
1. create a custom view of the normal layout window (without hiding column ) -> name it
then
2. create custom view with your "hidden" columns. name it again
so if you want to go back to your "normal view" just click the custom view with the name for "normal"

basically -> create 2 custom views, one for the "normal" and one for the "edited."
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

There is a little star ( ADD REPUTATION ) below those person who helped you. Click it to say your "PRIVATE APPRECIATION TO THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS "
