    Betfair Dutching Calculation

    I can someone please help me with this hedging calculation. I want to be able to state the profit required on each of the various outcomes, so that whatever bet is successful I will make the same profit on each bet. What formula do I need to use in the stake column to do this?

    Basically you need to divide the profit by odds to get the stake. The problem is that the result stake multiplied by odds will not always add up back to 100, because of the decimals.
    Have a look at this calculation. I disabled auto rounding, otherwise the Profit_check column would show all 100's.

    Thank you for your respose bmouse. Unfortunately that's not what I am looking for, perhaps my poor description. Say I know the odds and the amount that I want to achieve, what formual do I use to get the stakes in the column B. In my example I did it by trial and error. Using your spreadsheet as an example. If I started with just the odds in column A and I know the profit how do I calculate the various stakes in column B. What formula would I need to put in to column B to get those stakes, bearing in mine that when one of the outcomes win all the other stakes in column B are lost.

    Re: Betfair Dutching Calculation

    I literally just wrote it in the previous post. Also, the excel file contains the exact formula in Column B, I did not write the values manually. The formula is =C2/A2.

    Example.

    Odds = A
    Profit = B

    Stakes = Profit/Odds or B/A or B divided by A.

    Example 2.

    Odds = 5.64
    Profit = 100$

    Stakes = Profit/Odds or 100/5.64 = 17.73$

    17.73 multiplied by 5.64 = 99,9972, so you need to round the stake up a bit, say 17.75, that will give you a profit of 100,11. This is the reason why I added the column Profit_check - to see in which case the calculated stake*odds add up to less than 100, meaning that that stake needs to be rounded up.

    Did I make a mistake?

    Re: Betfair Dutching Calculation

    Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply. Sorry I am clearly not explaining myself clearly. Here is another sheet as an example. I want each choice in column B to win £100 or as close as the odds will allow. In order to do that I need a formula in column D that does this. If say choice A wins then B-F would lose their stakes, in order to arrive at the £100 profit choice A needs to cover the amount lost in B-F plus the £100 profit. I realise this is a circular formula. http://screencast.com/t/kj2kY9TK6SX

    Ok, it seems I dod not grasp the real objective, since I have little to no experience with bets and betting. Apologies.
