NEED to go back. Suddenly no undo option available. Last saved state too far back

is this possible or is the grayed out back button mean Excel isn't keeping any memory of previous states of my file? I've also made too many changes since the last time I saved and the action I made was deleting a lot of data accidentally. Perfect timing MS! Anyone know how to go back if possible and most importantly how to avoid this error in the future?

About that I don't know, but is there any chance you have run a macro before your attempted undo?

Macros clear the undo stack. If that's the case I do not believe there is a remedy for it.

Try making a change and see if the "ungreys"?

thanks anyway. I've looked into this elsewhere to no avail. I do not know of any "macros". I don't really even know what they are so maybe that rules out that possibility. anyway, moved on, for now at least...

have you tried closing excel, then reopening and trying that file again?
Any chance of seeing a "clean" copy of that file?

Thanks. Appreciate your effort. Don't have time atm to worry about this now so if it persists I'll be back. It does happen from time to time but rarely. Just when it's least convenient lol.

okay, it's back again. I tried closing then reopening and no ability to back. I don't think I've seen this with other files, tho this is the one I use the most. "clean file" ? what do you mean by that? I wouldn't be able to share it as it has a bunch of personal info, public info on people and their real estate, but probably shouldn't broadcast it. So... anyone have any other ideas? I never made a "macro" so I couldn't imagine how that could be the cause.. Anyway, I'll keep looking and report back...

If you change a huge number of data then excel can't take all of them on memory. But you can get the correct answer if you can attach the file. Just remove all data from the file and write anything on first cell. Then save the file and attach that here. Then your data will be secured and also you will get the correct answer.
