    Data from Connections

I have data coming in from an existing connection onto a new spreadsheet. But not all the data shows up from the connection. cells with a number only or text only come through. However if a cell has both numbers and text the cell will not show up on the existing connection worksheet.... any ideas what the problem may be?

1234... shows up on connected worksheet
    1234A... will not show up

    Re: Data from Connections

    will not show up means:

    you get a blanc cell.

you get a failure in the cell.

    you get something else?

is 1234A in the orignal list (so it has to be found?)

You have leading or trailing spaces in one of the values; in that case the values are not equal (if you are using VLookup or match).
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

oeldere: will not show up means I get a blank cell.

1234A is just an example... any data with both numbers and text is just an empty cell

    Re: Data from Connections

and what formula do you use?

You get better result on your question if you add a small excel file, without confidential information.

Please also add the expected results manualy in your file.

I can't read PNG files. so I asked for:

    add a small excel file

Other forummembers mostly don't want to recreate your file (PNG) just to help you.

    Re: Data from Connections

I appreciate your effort, and I am familiar with index/match, but the linked files will be used for other employees to a link to my workbook. I am trying to create a situation where all they have to do is hit refresh all and they will see all the changes to the inventory. The index/match will not show new data unless they manually drag the formula down which I dont think is a reliable option. The fiel I attached was just a snapshot of the entire workbook, our real workbook contains 35,000+ line items and grows daily.

    Re: Data from Connections

then make a table of your data

    excel 2013 => Insert => Table.

if you add a formula IN the table, the formula will automatic expand to the last row of that table.

    Re: Data from Connections

Its strange because other workbooks I have linked data to will pick up alphanumeric data but this workbook only picks up numeric only or text only
