Hi, I've never used this forum and have barely used excel, so sorry if I break some forum etiquette or whatever
I want a function which can convert a number to a specific word, e.g. if I type "1" into cell A1 I want it to convert to the word "Black", or "2" to "Blue" if this is possible.
I will add a bit of context.
I play this game where there are 15 other players at the start + yourself. Each player is assigned a colour, and I want to make an excel sheet that I can have open alongside this game. Here I want to write down all the players quickly by using numbers and having excel convert them to colours for me (I would have to remember each value for each colour).
The ingame list is never alphabetical and can be different each time, as there is only a certain number of possible colours, and others will be excluded (e.g. a 16 player game might not have the colours "blue", "orange", or "ochre").
This means I cannot just use a prewritten list, since it is different every time.
E.g. A sample list of players, and what I would want to do in the excel sheet:
Brown
Blue
Violet
Red
Orange
In excel sheet (arbitrary values right now, I will order the possible colours later):
Type "4" into a cell ---> "Brown"
Type "5" ---> "Blue"
Type "12" ---> "Violet"
Type "9" ---> "Red"
Type "7" ---> "Orange"
Separately, I would have cells where I would note down information on these players (off-topic but it might help you understand), and help me in making judgements about them.
There is no in-game function for this sort of thing, and I currently use a notepad document where I have to write down every single of the 16 players down individually (time-consuming), I want to make this process more efficient.
Thank you.
