    Building a waiting list

Hello, forum! first-time person here, trying to help set up a waiting list for a shelter. We need a printable, easy to read list (worksheet 2) based on data (worksheet 1) for the use of staff and volunteers. The printable list has to filter in only ACCEPTED Persons, listed by longest wait-time first, grouped by gender for bed placement. I would humbly and sincerely appreciate any assistance. The shelter resources are very minimal so thank you, very much, in advance for any help. Attached file is the basic idea. Again, any help is appreciated.

    Re: Building a waiting list

Instead of coming up with a 2nd table, have you considered just applying filters to the list on sheet 1?

    Orig table with filters activated
    Excel 2016 (Windows) 64 bit
    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
    1
Last Name First Name Status Gender Application Date
    2
    Abraham Alan Accepted Female
    1-Jan-24
    3
    Brinkey Bob Pending Male
    5-Jan-24
    4
    Chiara Ciera Accepted Female
    6-Jan-24
    5
    Delano Danny Accepted Male
    10-Jan-24
    6
    Erikson Ella Pending Female
    15-Jan-24
    7
    Faucet Frank Accepted Male
    17-Jan-24
    8
    Ferry Farrah Denied Female
    17-Jan-24
    9
    Garret Gerald Accepted Male
    17-Jan-24
    10
    Humphrey Herald Accepted Male
    17-Jan-24
    11
    Iskwe Ibrahim Accepted Male
    18-Jan-24
    12
    Joyce Jessica Pending Female
    20-Jan-24
    Sheet: Data

Filtered table based on Status (1) and then Gender (2)

    Excel 2016 (Windows) 64 bit
    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
    1
Last Name First Name Status Gender Application Date
    5
    Delano Danny Accepted Male
    10-Jan-24
    7
    Faucet Frank Accepted Male
    17-Jan-24
    9
    Garret Gerald Accepted Male
    17-Jan-24
    10
    Humphrey Herald Accepted Male
    17-Jan-24
    11
    Iskwe Ibrahim Accepted Male
    18-Jan-24
    Sheet: Data

You could move the status to the end if you dont want it "visible on a printout
Then just change the Gender filter

    Re: Building a waiting list

Thank you for the reply FDibbins. We are currently using filters to copy and paste into a printable doc. The actual list is very long, and the number someone is on the list is the important part. There a Female #1 and a Male #1

    In B4:

    =SORT(FILTER(CHOOSECOLS(Data!A2:E12,1,2,5),(Data!C2:C12="Accepted")*(Data!D2:D12="Male")),3,1)

    In B18:

    =SORT(FILTER(CHOOSECOLS(Data!A2:E12,1,2,5),(Data!C2:C12="Accepted")*(Data!D2:D12="Female")),3,1)
