    VLOOKUP - Newbie

I have a workbook with 2 worksheets - Book Check Out and Book List Inventory. The Book Check out has the persons name, email, date of check out and the book title. I am trying to use VLOOKUP to populate on the Book List Inventory a YES or NO in the Currently Checked Out column. Very new to VLOOKUP and am sure I am over complicating things but I'm stuck.
    Thank you for any suggestions!

    Hi and welcome

If you follow the instructions in the yellow banner at the top of the page you can attach a sample workbook. Show us in that file a handful of expected results and we'll be able to assist.

    In A2 copied down?

    =FILTER('Book List Inventory'!$E$2:$E$14,LEFT('Book List Inventory'!$A$2:$A$14,LEN('Book Check Out'!D2))=D2)

    Thank you looking this over.

The Book Check Out tab will contain the name of the person who has the book checked out. The Book List Inventory, should reflect "if" the book is currently checked by marking Yes.
So maybe the formula is backwards?

A workbook a little more advanced to you control the library.
In it I introduced named tables that make formulas easier to read, expandable format and formula with the table, formulas to link the 3 tables.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Thank you for the support! I see you added a Borrow Date, what is the significance of that date in correlation to the Check Out Date?
