Keep the control key pressed down, while clicking on every cell, or range of cells, your daughter is allowed to use, then release the control key. All the cells selected should now be highlighted. Now click on Format / Cells / and in the Format Cells panel that opens, click on the Protection tab. There should be two small squares marked Locked and Hidden. Remove the tick from Locked by clicking in the Locked square, and then click on OK to exit the Format Cells Panel. Now set protection for the whole sheet by clicking on Tools / Protection / Protect Sheet. A password can be set, but for now don't set a password, but click on OK. Try to type in any cell that has been protected, and a warning panel will open with a beep. Type in the unlocked cells, and data will be accepted. Also, by pressing the tab key, the cursor will jump from one unlocked cell to another, and will cycle through the unlocked cells as long as the tab key is pressed.
