    avarage help

    Good Day

    I have a survey the questions is frequency of duty in a job role:
    (o = never, 1= seldom, 3 = sometimes, etc)

    one row has the frequency options 0 1 2 3 4 5
    the following rows will have duties and
    the employees answer. (ex sweep) x
    dust x
    wash dishes x


    at the end of the worksheet i want the averages of all frequency options, so I have a colums already set up at the end of the worksheet with the sum of all '0s' selected and all '1's' etc

    It may look like this

    Frequency 0 1 2 3 4 5
    0 1 2 3 0 0
    when i enter the formula for the average of the 1 2 and 3 it is giving me = 1 , that is wrong the answer should be 2 (1+2+3=6/3= 2)

    CAN SOMEONE HELP.....i know this is a long question if you need the worksheet I can email it to you.

    It would have been simpler setting up 1 column adn entering a 0-5 for the response and take less space. It is giving you 1 correctly, as the average of the six numbers 0,1,2,3,0,0 is 1

    if the answer is alway divided by 3 as that is the number of tasks
    sum(the six values)/3

    sum(a1:a6)/3

    it is not entirely clear but I imagine if you typed the response into one column as the number it would then be average of the 3 values (1,2,3) and equal 2. If you had to do this again.
