Adding the sum of days

Hey all....

Im really new at excel...so even this is a challange for me. I tried to search the forums, but I didnt get anywhere.

Anyway..

I would like to create an excel document that would add a number each day an item is in use.

So one day the column would read 0

The next day the column would read 1

And the next day the cloumn would read 2

and so on. I would like this to be done automatically for me.

Also, if you know of a way that if the number of days in use column gets to say 500, the column would turn yellow, as like a warning then if it hits like 750it would turn red.

=DATE(2007,1,9)

In cell B1 type
=TODAY()-A1+1

Select the cell(s) to which you would like to apply this formatting.

Select Format > Conditional Formatting from the menu, and then add the following conditions:
