Calculate days reports

Hi all,

new to the forum and need some help to create a report to analyze the processing time for each step in a loan processing department. I have a workflow chart sheet and it is broken down in 8 areas and each Category shows the date when it went from one step to another. is there a way to analyze each steps where it can tell me how long did it take in the process time?

for instance, From processing date to final approval date? is there a way to create function or calculate the days it took in that area and compare the allowable time in that area? (like variance between the actual and the allowable days) also, is there a template in the forum where maybe i can modify from it? thanks i hope this make sense to some of you.

to understand Dates etc http://www.cpearson.com/excel/datetime.htm#AddingDates from Chip Pearson is useful.

To calculate Days simply subtract the earlier date from, the later date.

Most 'templates' are either too general or too site-specific to be of use.

Failing any better reply, did you mean something like:

In column A the start date (type in the date from A2 downwards)
In column E the stage date (type in the date)

In column B the days from E - A ( =E2-A2 ) format column as 'Number'
In column C the expected (allowable) stage days (type in the days)
In column D the difference between B & C ( =B2-C2 or =C2-B2 )

repeat columns B through E for each step.
