    Creating Database

A database was created for me many years ago in works, I have saved it as a csv file and opened it in Excel, though all the information is there the formatting is not. I have spent about three months trying to fathom out by reading and experimenting how to set it up but really have no idea. The database is quite simple, as I have only just got Excel I do not understand the differences as opposed to Works. If anyone has knowledge of both I would appreciate any assistance and, if anybody was willing to look at the file I could send it. (29KB) Thank you

You need to zip the file and attach it so we can look at it.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:

I just had a thought. You can open Works files directly in Excel and that should retain at least some of the formatting and formulas. Try that before zipping and attaching it, if you still need help.

Thank you for your responses. I have already opened it in Excel but cannot do any function that I can in Works. I have attached this as a zip file along with a short text document explaining what I am trying to do. I would be most grateful for any assistance. Thank you

Strange, but my Windows XP can't unzip your file. I'venever had this problem before. What did you use to zip it?

Thanks again for replying. I am using winzip pro 10 to create the zip file, I just downloaded it to see if a problem had occurred while uploading but it opened OK.
I am now uploading again, this time as a .txt extension, you will need to rename the extension to .wdb in order to open it, sorry if I have wasted your time but hopefully this time you may be able to open it. With thanks, Chris
PS: My Works file is actually a text file describing what I am attempting to do

I'm using Excel 2003 and it doesn't have an option to open a .wdb file - only .wks. I also tried MS Access and Open Office, but neither will open your database file. Sorry I can't be any help.
