Smile Daily Log (Open to Current Date)

    Greetings

Still discovering the usefulness of Excel, so please pardon my lack of knowledge. My latest project is a daily journal or log for my son. Is it possible to have excel open a specific spreadsheet based on the date? Or if I decided to have a running column, could I break the column up into sections (dates) and have it open to that date without scrolling all the way down? I'm open to ideas, so if you have something better, please let me know. He will be logging daily weather events for his school science project.

    Thanks
    GR

    A couple of ideas.

There's an implied assumption above that the dates will be chronological top to bottom. Why not arrange the sheet so that the current day's entry is at the top of the list?

The workbook can be coded to react to the WorkbookOpen event. i.e. every time the workbook is opened, you can dictate what things should happen. e.g. open another workbook, sort data, add a row, prompt the user for input, add today's date, etc..

    Smile Thank you

Thanks for the response. I'm somewhat new to excel, but I'm sure the web has some examples or how-to's. I may be back for more help.

Using Excel 2000 and I can't find anything about WorkBookOpen event in the help files. Is this something in newer versions?
