Say I have a number of minutes of 24013.76 in B3 and in C3 I want to have that number in hh:mm format. When I do the custom format it doesn't calculate it correctly.

You have to divide by 1440 first. Excel is reading this as 24k days.
Try putting in C3:
=TIME(0,B3,0) and then formatting to hh:mm
Where there is a will there are many ways.

you guys are awesome! Both ways work and i found the nice little format of [h]:mm:ss and modified it to [h]:mm and got exacty what i needed. I don't know what i would do without internets...probably go crazy
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!
ps what's the difference between h:mm and [h]:mm? i don't really need to know, but it would be nice to understand the difference.
[h] will allow more than 24 hours. h rolls over to 0 after 24.
ahhh...got it. now it makes sense why it wasn't appearing like i had wanted earlier. Thanks againOriginally Posted by darkyam
I wouldn't have thought that this would work. Time function never returns a value greater than 24 hours, presumabaly 24013.76 minutes should become 400:13 or similar?Originally Posted by NBVC
