Calculating percentages for multiple repeat value columns.

    Hi,

I'm sure there's a fairly easy way to do this, but in looking through Excel 2007 help and around the web, I haven't discovered how.

What I have is a column which has 4-5 different values which repeat throughout the column. As an example in a column labeled "Completed Requests" I would have the following -
    Brown
    Smith
    Brown
    Johnson
    Johnson
    Brown
    Gadly
    Smith
    etc.

I want to automatically calculate the percentage of completed requests by each name or value; e.g. if there's 38 entries in the column and a specific value shows up 7 times, I'd like the percentage automatically calculated in another summary cell.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, and please let me know if my explanation isn't clear.

    Thanks.

If you have a separate list of unique values in, say, column B, then

    =COUNTIF($A$1:$A$100,B1)/COUNTA($A$1:$A$100)

Where A1:A100 contain your Completed Requests names and B1 contains one of those names.

    Format results as percentage.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
