Changing a date over and over

I can do all the basic stuff with excel 2003, and I can write basic formulas, including simple logical formulas or conditional formulas. I have never written any kind of a macro, other than to use the key stroke type. At work we have a simple monthly workbook, which has work sheet for each day of the month. At the end of the month the boss goes page by page first high lighting the data area and then hitting delete. Then he types in a new date at the top of each page. Now even I could see that it would be simpler to just keep a blank workbook and rename it. However that presents one problem the date. What do I do about making the date easier to change? I can’t use a simple date formula because that will make each page reflect the current date and a static formula just formats the cell to show a date correct? Is there an answer to this problem or am I stuck changing dates because now the boss has me doing all this since I pointed out how he could save time by using a blank workbook. He figured he could really save time by having me do all of it lol.

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi,

    Here is one suggestion:

    Suppose your sheets are named Sheet1, Sheet2 .... Sheet31

    1. In Sheet1 (the sheet for day 1 of the month) enter the date e.g.

September 1, 2008. I will assume that it is cell A1.

    2. In Sheet2 (the sheet for day 2 of the month) enter the following formula where you want to see the date:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    2. In Sheet3 (the sheet for day 3 of the month) enter the following formula where you want to see the date:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
In the same way enter the formulas for the rest of the dates.

This way you only need to change the date in the first worksheet and the rest will be updated automatically by the formulas.

I hope this will satisfy your requirement.

    Regards.

    Hi se1429, that works.

Thank you very much. I am self taught and really I am just a truck driver who taught himself how to use Excel so I could keep my books. Now I am over here in Iraq and the people who run the office are also just truck drivers Yes they can get the actual job done but when it comes to filling out the reports they lack a lot. I am not very good but I can usually figure things out. Right now I am mostly trying to straighten out the spread sheets as most of the formulas are useless right now. They were built by someone several years ago, they are simple spread sheets but they have not been maintained,

    Thank you for your help
