    Merging number format into Word

Hoping someone can help me on this one. I'm trying to merge numbers into a word doc. I have a list of averages, ie 4.33333333 etc, in the excel sheet I changes the format to number (2 decimal places) so that I would only have 4.33. However when I merge it into the word doc, the word doc reverts it back to the long version. So...I don't even know if this is an excel problem or a word merge problem. Does anyone know what to do???
